Details: The Aspen Institute hosts the bi-weekly Innovators Series.

The first discussion of the series will feature Melissa Roberts, Executive Director of the American Flood Coalition, in conversation with Greg Gershuny, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute’s Energy and Environment Program.

Melissa and Greg will discuss how the U.S. can most effectively prepare and respond to two disasters at once: COVID-19 and flooding related to the the upcoming hurricane season. The conversation will touch on several key themes including:

• Disaster response on the local and federal levels  

• How to build resilience into both short and long-term stimulus and infrastructure packages

• Social equity considerations in adaptation planning and opportunities for policy change
