Coe, the first woman to write a biography on Washington in over a century, has been praised for her "important intervention" (NYT) in presidential history. Coe is also a fellow at New America, where she's thinking about the presidency ahead of America's 250th, and writing a new book about young John F. Kennedy. Her first book, the critically acclaimed Alice+Freda Forever: A Murder in Memphis, has been optioned.
