Giant Oak Presents: Empowering Peace: AI and the Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, the United Nations Economic and Social Council adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which is defined by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are broad and include topics as varied as water, energy, climate, oceans, urbanization, transport, poverty, and science and technology.

In partnership with #NatSecGirlSquad, Kristina Drye will explore how artificial intelligence (AI) is being used as a valuable tool in worldwide efforts to achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. From combining satellite imagery and machine learning to predict poverty (Goal One), to using AI to identify corruption (Goal 16), AI gives us reasons to be hopeful that, with technology, we can empower peace and stability around the globe.
